Alzheimer's Association Resources and Programming

4/20/20 Update:

The Alzheimer's Association is offering free virtual programming for anyone who wishes to attend. They are also looking for organizations to work with to deliver more virtual programming. Please see the attached PDFs at the bottom of this post for more information, and feel free to contact them at montana@alz.org!

The Alzheimer's Association has great information available for libraries and the public to use. Here are a few of their resources highlighted:

  1. Alzheimer's Help and Support: This section of the Alzheimer's Association website has great information for all aspects of Alzheimer's and dementia, including information and support for caregivers, for those diagnosed, and about brain health in general.
  2. Alzheimer's Research: The Alzheimer's Association website also has excellent information about current research on Alzheimer's and dementia, and you can find clinical trials from here as well.
  3. 24/7 Alzheimer's Helpline: The Alzheimer's Association has a 24/7/365 helpline that you can call anytime for assistance. This service is free, and specialists and master's-level clinicians are available to answer questions, offer confidential support, and provide guidance for those living with their disease, their families, and their caregivers. You can reach the helpline through the following ways:
    • Phone Call (1-800-272-3900, available 24/7/265)
    • Chatting online (on the Alzheimer's Association website, available from 7 am - 7 pm CST Monday through Friday)
    • Online (submit a form on the Alzheimer's Association website, and someone will respond within 24 hours)
  4. Infographic: 10 Ways to Love Your Brain - Also provided by the Alzheimer's Association, this infographic shows ways that you can help prevent cognitive decline (attached to post).
