Attaching Your Item to a Generic Chromebook Record

To catalog a  Chromebook:
1. Open the  Call Number and Item Maintenance wizard. (Cataloging module > Common Tasks toolbar > Call Number…).
2. Search  ALL  libraries by  Title Control #  a2629650 .
3. Once the record displays, click  Modify.
4. Click the  Call Number/Item tab.
5. Click  Add Call Number.
6. Fill out the item record info according to your library’s policy, keeping in mind:
  1. How you want the item to circulate, e.g. does the item need to have due dates, accrue fines or be billed for loss? Does it need to be holdable and/or renewable? See Cataloging - Policy Lists and Circulation - Choosing Circulation Rules for options.
  2. Whether you want patrons to be able to discover the items in the online catalog.
    1. If you do want items to be discovered, make sure the item isn't shadowed.
    2. If you don't want items to be discovered, make to shadow the item.
  3. Whether the items needs to be tracked/excluded for circulation stats.
If you have questions about which item type and/or home location would work well for your library, please open a ticket.

7. For  item cat1, select COMPUTER, EQUIPMENT, or  LAPTOP. If you don't have the item category you want, please  open a ticket.

8. If you'd like to indicate accessories included with the item, such as chargers, mice, etc., add that in the CIRCNOTE field.
  1. Consider updating the Number of pieces field to include accessories so staff know to check for them.
9. If you'd like to record the serial number or similar information, include that in the STAFF note field
10. Click Save.
11. To add another item(s) to an existing call number, click Add Item.
12. Fill out the item information.
13. Click Save.
Keep in mind that you can set a specific due date at checkout, e.g. the end of the school year, semester, etc., using the special due date helper. For more information on adjusting due dates, see Circulation - Adjusting Due Dates.
