The following examples are provided to illustrate the available options in Enterprise, the current Montana Shared Catalog OPAC. As part of the library on-boarding process, please complete the attached Enterprise Profile Options Form and return it to the MSC system administrators by opening a Help Center ticket.
The Montana Share Catalog offers three different color themes. All are listed below with a corresponding test page to visit online. All themes also include an ADA mode to provide high contrast colors and navigational tools.

The header can be personalized with your library name and logo. Alternatively, you can choose to use the Montana Shared Catalog logo. You may optionally decide to use only a logo and no text.
In this example, the library has opted to use the MSC logo with their library name and group membership. The library name can be hyperlinked. This is currently the most popular option.
Alternatively, libraries can supply a logo to be used in the header with their library name and group membership. The library name can also be a link.
Finally, libraries can choose to provide only a logo with a link.
Images and links to external resources can be placed in the left and right content containers on the home page. Popular selections include MontanaLibrary2Go, Montana History Portal, and databases. Links for online user registration (OUR) will be placed in a content container (see more below about OUR ). Libraries can also supply an external link for new material requests. Each content container should include no more than three items. For libraries with many links, a Resources room is an option (see Resources below).
Other images not featured below are available including Novelist, Ancestry, Gale Datebases, Heritage Quest, Overdrive, AR Book Finder and more. The library may provide a URL to a high quality image for inclusion.
The Book River includes recently added titles, and optionally, New York Times Best-Sellers Lists.
Items rotate through the visual display automatically, or users can click the arrows to scroll through the list. Clicking “Find in My Library” brings the patron to a search results screen.
Users can select from multiple lists including NYT Best-Sellers. By default, a rotation of local new arrivals (or MSC new arrivals, if you desire) will be selected.
Collection Quick Search Links allow the users to get a list of items based on pre-selected criteria. You can choose up to 9 links to include on your home page. These links can feature either new arrivals or a full collection, which is configurable per list. Please note that the lists are derived using a combination of item categories. For example, a list of juvenile non-fiction will use item cat 2 - juvenile plus item cat 3 - non-fiction.
Quick Search Icons are placed beneath the Book River on the home page.
Rooms are additional pages that can be accessed from your profile. All members will include the room “About Montana Shared Catalog,” and libraries that participate in a sharing group will have a room for their group. Members can choose rooms for State Library Digital Publications, Mobile Services and Apps, MT.GOV Connect, and Montana State Resources. A library specific Resources room is also available.
The About Montana Shared Catalog room includes information about the MSC and links to all MSC Enterprise profiles.
Sharing Group rooms feature a list of all member libraries and brief information about services provided.
The State Library Digital Publications room provides an iframe with direct access to Montana State Library collections available for public viewing.
The Mobile Services and Apps room has details about Shoutbomb, a library text notification system, and BookMyne, the current MSC mobile app.
The MT.GOV Connect room uses an iframe to display an online collection of archived Montana State agency websites.
The Montana State Resources room provides links and information to popular Montana State Resources like Montana Field Guides and the Montana Memory Project.
Libraries that subscribe to many databases or curate more links than can fit on the home page, can select a room to house resources.
Library can choose to allow Online User Registration (OUR). A link will be placed in the right content container of your home page and on the login screen. OUR assigns a patron a temporary user profile that does not allow for checkouts or holds. This streamlines the registration process so that your circulation desk only needs to verify identity before issuing the permanent profile and card.
The login pop-up includes a link to “Sign Up for a Card”.
An additional OUR link will be placed on your home page.
Both “Apply for a Library Card” links direct users to an Online Registration form. After submitting the form, users are presented with a temporary ID number. Staff can use this number to look up and modify the patron in WorkFlows.
In the main menu, users can click “Contact” to view links to basic information on the library’s website. These links open in a pop-up. If the library does not have a separate website, links can be to the library’s ASPeN page (the directory) on the Montana State Library website.
At a minimum, each library will have a search limit for their specific location. This limit can include just the main library or the main library and branches. Separate limits for branches can be added to a drop down. Libraries that participate in a sharing group (Partners, BridgerNet, 4-Rivers) will use a default search limit that includes all libraries participating in the sharing group. Search limits also exist for academic libraries and schools. Each profile includes an additional option to search “Everything.” This means that no limit will be in place and the user can search any of the MSC libraries.
In the same drop down, users can select Search Targets that are outside of the MSC. Current options include MSU Libraries, UM Mansfield Library, and Library of Congress. These targets are displayed in separate tabs in the search results list. The tab will include items that are owned by the specified target, but live availability information is not listed. The MSC can also configure a connection to EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) for those that subscribe.
Widgets for library subscriptions to Novelist and Syndetics Unbound will be available on request and added expense. Before adding a new service, please contact the MSC system administrators to discuss your options and a timeline for implementation.
