MontanaLibrary2Go - Libby App

After  February 2022 the Overdrive app will no longer be available in App stores and you will be directed to use Libby.


Don’t worry, you can still access the same growing collection of eBooks and Audiobooks selected just for you by MontanaLibrary2Go.

You may have seen versions of Libby from your public library over the last few years, but now it is out of the testing stage and OverDrive is ready to officially make the switch.

A word document version of these instructions can be found attached to this article.  Please feel free to use it as a template.
You are welcome to customize that template with the name of your library and use it as a handy help sheet for your patrons.

Here are some instructions to help you set up the app

Download: “Libby, by OverDrive” from your app store.   The App icon should look like this: 
 
Find your Library: Type in “The name of your library”

Log In: Add your Library card.
  1. To get back to your library settings use the  icon at the bottom of the screen.

Find a Book: Browse the collection or use the magnifying glass icon     at the bottom of your screen to search.
  1. Tap the picture of the book you would like to read to select it.

An image of earbuds in the corner or under the cover art indicate an audiobook.  

Those without the earbud image are eBooks.

Borrow: If there is a copy available, tap Borrow and it  should become available for use immediately.

To listen to an audiobook, tap the play button.

To read an eBook simply tap the book cover and swipe left. This turns the “pages” and advances you through the book.

Place a Hold: If there are no copies available tap Hold.
  1. Tap Place Hold and you will be placed on a waitlist.
  2. You will receive an email when a copy is available.

Make sure that your email address is listed correctly in the Notices section. This will ensure you will receive notifications about holds and expiration dates. See more on this below.

Renew a Book: If no one else has the book checked out you can renew it within three days of the due date.
  1. Tap the Shelf  section of your app located on the bottom of your screen.
  2. Locate the book you wish to renew and click Manage Loan.
  3. Tap Renew and confirm.

Return a Book: Titles will automatically return at the end of a checkout period, but you can return books early to free up space for new loans.
  1. Do this by tapping on the Shelf .
  2. Tap Manage Loan.
  3. Tap Return Loan and then confirm the action when prompted

Want to see your history ? Use the clock icon    found on the bottom of your screen for a list of previous loans.

Settings: These are found in the Libby    icon usually located in the bottom center of your screen.
  1. From here you can Manage Notifications to change your settings or tap Get Some Help if you get stuck along the way.
