SymphonyWeb - Requirements and Differences from the WorkFlows Client

About

This article covers the browser requirements for SymphonyWeb and identifies how it differs from the WorkFlows client software.

Requesting SymphonyWeb

System administrators must configure SymphonyWeb for your library, so please open a ticket to request it if you're interested.

If you would like your current WorkFlows properties replicated in SymphonyWeb, you can make a copy and attach the files to your ticket request. To save a copy of your properties:
  1. On the computer that has the property settings you would like to copy, navigate to your Workflows installation following this path: C:\Users\USERNAME\Sirsi\Workflows.
  2. Open the Property folder.
  3. From within that folder copy the following files to an external device or to a folder on your desktop:
    1. property
    2. preference
  4. Attach those files to your ticket.

Browser Requirements for SymphonyWeb

SymphonyWeb is a web-based version of WorkFlows, which means it doesn't require staff to download software to a computer -- they can simply log into WorkFlows online from a web browser. Make sure your preferred web browser is up-to-date. SymphonyWeb is compatible with the latest two versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and only the latest version of Microsoft Edge.

How SymphonyWeb Differs from the WorkFlows Client

SymphonyWeb does not contain the following features that you'll see in WorkFlows:
  1. The Offline module
  2. General circ/tech logins -- staff will need to have individuals logins set up by a system administrator.
  3. The login configuration screen that contains the login timeout field, etc.
  4. Certain options from the top menu bar when it comes to printing, editing, and desktop and peripheral setup.
  5. The ability to add, delete, modify, or rename label templates in Label Designer.
  6. The ability to print routing lists or labels for serials at check-in.
