WorkFlows - Specified Path Not Found

WorkFlows - Specified Path Not Found

About

This article explains what the "Specified Path Not Found" error means when you're trying to view reports in WorkFlows, and how to fix it.

Specified Path Not Found

When you're trying to view a WorkFlows report but you get a "Specified Path Not Found" error, it means that WorkFlows can't tell which application (Microsoft Word, Notepad++, OpenOffice, etc.) you want the workstation to use to display the report -- it doesn't know the "path" to the program you want.

Specifying the Path

You can use any word-processing or text-editing software to view WorkFlows reports, such as Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, Notepadd++, etc., that may be installed on the workstation. The file path to your software of choice must then be identified in the Report module's Session Settings wizard. There are two ways to go about specifying the file path; if the first option doesn't work, try the second.
The following instructions are the same for Mac workstations, but with different file structure and file names.

Option 1

To view the correct file path:
1. Right-click on the icon of the software you want to use to view reports (this example uses Microsoft Word).
2. Select Properties from the pop-up list.

3. Select the Shortcut tab.

4. The path is listed in the Target field.
5. Copy the path (make sure you've highlighted the entire thing before copying) by doing Ctrl+C.

To specify the path and fix the error on a Windows workstation:
1. Open the Reports module.
2. Open the Session Settings wizard.

3. Paste the path you just copied into the Application to view reports field.
4. Make sure to remove the quotation marks (") at the beginning and end of the path if there are any.
6. Click OK to close the Session Settings wizard.
7. Click Yes when asked if you'd like to save changes upon closing WorkFlows.

Option 2

1. Open the Reports module.
2. Open the Session Settings wizard.
3. Click the diamond gadget to the right of the field you want to fill, e.g., Application to view reports. This will open your computer's file explorer.

4. Navigate to the file WINWORD.EXE. The file path will look something like:
This PC > Windows (C:) > Program Files > Microsoft Office > root > Office16 > WINWORD.
Grey and white box with drop-down list and file highlighted in blue and orangeWindows file explorer with file path to WINWORD.EXE displayed.

5. Double-click on WINWORD or highlight it and click OK to put the file path in the settings field.

6. Copy and paste the path into the Application to view reports field.
7. Click OK to close the Session Settings wizard.
8. Click Yes when asked if you'd like to save changes upon closing WorkFlows.
