WorkFlows - Installing

About

This article covers installing a fresh version of WorkFlows. WorkFlows is meant to be used on library staff workstations only, not personal devices.
Follow these instructions if you're installing WorkFlows on a workstation, or a recent WorkFlows update wasn't successful.

Installing

  1. Open a ticket letting MSC system administrators know you need to download WorkFlows to a staff workstation.
  2. Make sure to log into the workstation (computer) as an administrator before downloading, meaning that, if the workstation has multiple login profiles (e.g. one for staff, one for your tech support, etc.) choose the one that has admin permissions. If you don't, you'll run into issues later.
  3. Download WorkFlows for the Windows or MAC client.
  4. When asked to Run or Save:
    1. Select Save and save it to the Desktop location.
    2. If not prompted to save, the program will be downloaded to your default download folder.
      1. If downloaded to your default download folder, locate the fupd_jwf.exe file and move it to the desktop.
    3. The download may take up to 20 minutes depending on the speed and bandwidth of your internet connection.
  5. When the download is complete, there should be an icon for fupd_jwf.exe on your desktop.
  6. Double-click the icon.
  7. Answer Yes to all prompts to begin the installation. When the installation is complete, WorkFlows will automatically start.
  8. When the Configuration screen appears, make sure your settings match the following:
    1. IP address: mtsc.sirsi.net (This is for the production server.)
    2. Port: 5100
    3. Login Timeout: 60000 (4 zeros)
    4. Check the Show this window on next startup box.
  9. Log in with your library's CIRC or TECH username and password.

After Installing

  1. Check you have the correct version of WorkFlows by clicking Help > About... from the top menu.
    1. The version should be 4.0.0.0.1260.
    2. Click OK.
  2. From the top menu, click Preference > Peripherals > Barcode Reader.
    1. Check the box Barcode reader available.
    2. Click OK.
  3. Click Preference > Desktop > Desktop Setup...
    1. Leave all the defaults alone; however, you can change the theme colors if desired.
      1. Don't use the Classic theme.
    2. Check Tabbed windows and/or Multiple windows mode.
    3. Click OK.
  4. Click the Reports module from the toolbar menu near the top.
    1. Click the Session Settings wizard at the top of the Common Tasks drop-down on the left.
    2. Note the Application to view reports setting.
    3. If the path to the viewing application is incorrect, refer to the Specifying the Path section of WorkFlows - Specified Path Not Found Error for more information on this process.
  5. If your library uses receipt printers, click Preferences > Peripherals > Receipt Printer...
    1. Check the box Receipt printer available.
    2. You can get the printer settings from another workstation or refer to WorkFlows - Receipts and Transit Slips.
  6. Click the red X at the top right of the screen to close Workflows.
  7. When prompted, select Yes to save the properties that you just set.
  8. Delete the fupd_jwf.exe file from the desktop. You may copy the file to a jump drive for installation on other staff workstations, but make sure the installation file is deleted from the desktop to prevent an accidental re-installation.
  9. WorkFlows is now installed. To restart, double-click the WorkFlows icon that's now on your desktop and log in with your library's CIRC or TECH credentials.
