MontanaLibrary2Go: Overview of terms and structure

A group of Montana libraries that share funds to purchase Overdrive ebooks, audiobooks, and extras. 

More information about participation, costs, enrollment and funding is located on the 

Overdrive section of the Montana State Library website. 



OverDrive:

The vendor that members of MontanaLibrary2Go pay to provide access to services. 

Services include the Overdrive website, the Libby app, and the content within. 

 


Overdrive Marketplace:

 The administrative website where library staff can access technical support, invoices, usage reports, and marketing materials.

Each MontanaLibrary2Go member library receives login information to access Overdrive Marketplace.

Libby:

The app owned by Overdrive. 

 Libby provides access to eBooks, Audiobooks and any extras that have been purchased by MontanaLibrary2Go. 

Sometimes different rules apply to Kindles and e-Readers 

They do not have the same configurations as smartphones and tablets. 

Patrons can download the Libby app to use on smart phones and tablets.

They can access the web app at www.libbyapp.com.


Sora:

 The school library version of the Libby app. 

If you are a from a school library and you would like to learn more about using Sora

please open a helpdesk ticket. 


Extras:

 Additional subscription services through overdrive.

This might include Method Test Prep, Great Courses, or Universal Class.

Some libraries choose to subscribe to additional extras on their own, such as Kanopy.

If a library subscribes to an Overdrive Extra their patrons will find these services in the Extras section of Libby.

MontanaLibrary2Go is providing access to some Libby Extras through 2023.
